Navjivan Renewal Centre (NRC) is an initiative of the Delhi Jesuits. “Jesuits” refers to the
members of the Society of Jesus, which is a men’s Religious Order within the Catholic Church,
spread throughout the world.
Established in 1540 by St Ignatius of Loyola, the Jesuits have a long history of serving the
Catholic Church and humanity. Central to the life philosophy of the Jesuits is the “Spiritual
Exercises” written by St. Ignatius, which enables individual to learn more about the self and
God through prayer and guidance from a Jesuit Spiritual Director. Men who are called to the
Society of Jesus desire to be prophetic “contemplatives in action”. The contemporary Jesuits’
mission is focused on “service of faith and promotion of justice”.
Keeping the larger society and its wellbeing in mind, The Delhi Jesuit Society brought fourth NRC
into being in the year 2013 in Delhi.
